American Civil War wip

I mentioned before that I'm planning an "American Civil War Week" along the lines of my "New Zealand Wars Week" of last year.  I have 4 ACW regiments finished and am working on the final one.  There are a couple of vignettes to polish off too.  I haven't taken any proper photos yet - the dire weather in the UK have prevented that, as I need to go outside and it just hasn't stopped raining since (I think) late March.  But here are a couple of "teasers" of the Jackson's 1862 command so far. All are 25mm Dixon Miniatures, with 3 GMB flags and 2 hand-painted ones.  There is an interloping Alabama regiment, but otherwise the brigade is Virginian.  About two thirds of the figures were painted over 10 years ago and the remainder since March this year.

Something I've noticed since Blogger unilaterally decided to change the format of their blogs is that placing photos is now much more confusing....

  1. Yes, suffered it as well, found myself switching to html to see what it had done, but no easy answer that I could find.

    Enjoy the ACW

  2. Very nice figures, Giles. Any particular motivation for resurrecting these little men?

  3. The Dixon figures have a certain look to them that I like and your painting of these has reinforced that. Lots of character with those faces, top stuff Giles.

  4. Tremendous looking troops, but don’t get me started on the picture placement – I find the whole thing very frustrating.

  6. I always liked Dixon for their dynamic appearance, the clean casting and the neat details.

Your painting really did them justice.

  7. I've always found blogger to be a fidgety nit when it comes to photo placement. I didn't notice it getting worse recently, but I've always found it frustrating.

As always Giles you have done a sterling job on these! I do hope you don't just stop at the 5 regiments.

  14. Very nice to see another fan of the ACW Dixon figures. I've done a lot over the years. They do have a bit of their own character, but I've always found it works well for me. Yours are very nicely done and inspiring!
