Can only admire your keenness for cavalrymen, I'm happy for any theatre that doesn't require painting horses. ;-)
Recently got into the AWI mood myself again, if rather by recreating soldiers 1:1 (aka reenactment). Also had me looking up information and resources on your blog – and not the least drawing inspiration from it. Like said several times before, thanks for that!

Cheers,
TilmanSire Godefroyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13278575582941391824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4991076225884911243.post-49244198943011719622015-09-09T13:45:52.916+00:002015-09-09T13:45:52.916+00:00Hello Giles,

We probably all have it wrong and I am always suspicious of deserter descriptions. I think lots of different uniform colours were used within a single unit. Possibly each company within the same regiment had a different coloured coat. It's hard to pin a specific uniform down to a year in some cases. Captured red coats may have been used more than we think, not just by Additional Regts like Foremans or Webbs. State Troops seem to have been somewhat better clothed than Continentals, although it depended on the State. I think you have your militia units right with some ex State and Continental uniforms mixed in with civilian attire and hunting shirts.

All the best
Simon

Simonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03791963346486185268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4991076225884911243.post-87041959856993273132015-09-09T13:04:27.792+00:002015-09-09T13:04:27.792+00:00Nice work, Giles..Nice work, Giles..Steve-the-Wargamerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07077311120172727690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4991076225884911243.post-49715967114264943992015-09-09T11:30:59.873+00:002015-09-09T11:30:59.873+00:00Brilliant painting Giles! I'm currently working on some Perry American cavalry and they are tricky to assemble and paint.

Christopher Christopher(aka Axebreaker)https://www.blogger.com/profile/13205928451375232865noreply@blogger.com
